There will be a designated parking area within walking distance of the start line. You can drop off your bag of dry clothes and shower supplies at the registration table near the start line between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. We will transport your bag to the finish area for you. -
What is the route for the In-Person Reconciliation Run?
The course starts on 9th street in Birtle, approximately 250 meters south of the former residential school. The course proceeds south through town, then continues on backcountry (gravel/dirt) roads to the outskirts of Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation. Turns will be marked with signs. There will be 1-2 people on bicycles to lead the runners at the front of the pack. We will have volunteers along the course in case you are in need of assistance.
-
How does timing work for the In-Person Reconciliation Run?
Results will be based on gun time only (i.e., we will not be using chip timing). If you are prioritizing your time, please ensure you start at the official start time. Please note that if you start late, we cannot guarantee you will receive an official finish time, as we aim to be respectful of our volunteers’ time. To receive a time, you must be wearing your race bib on your torso or thigh when crossing the finish line — no bib = no time.
Final results will be submitted to the Manitoba Runners’ Association for publication on their website, and we aim to have this completed within 24 hours of the course closing. If you would like to know your finish time sooner, please speak to one of our volunteers at the finish area.
-
What if I need medical attention?
First aid and medical support will be available on the course. If you require assistance at any time, please notify one of our volunteers.
-
Will there be changing facilities available?
Yes — after the run, participants are welcome to shower and change at the Birdtail Sioux School on Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation. We will provide a shuttle service from the finish area to the school. If you wish to use this service, please inform the volunteers at the finish line.
-
Do I get a medal?
Yes — every registered participant gets a Reconciliation Run medal.
-
If I am no longer able to participate, can I receive a refund?
No — unfortunately at this time we are unable to offer participants refunds.
